BOOK signing & sale:   captain henry green: A whaler by rosemary mckinley
Saturday, July 23, 2022 at havens store tent, 10:00 am to 12:30 pm

Author and storyteller Rosemary McKinley has dug deep into the life and adventures of Captain Henry Green (1794-1873), who was born in Sag Harbor and went to see for the first time aboard the ship Fair Helen in 1817. He went on the captain the ship Hannibal and several other whaling vessels and achieved substantial wealth before finishing his seafaring career as captain of the ship Huron. He kept excellent journals, recording his adventures at sea and his quest for treasures--many of which are on display at the Southold Historical Society's Horton Point Lighthouse location.

Rosemary McKinley has been interested in history all of her life. After retiring from teaching history and writing, she became a published author in 2003. She has been published in Fate Magazine, the Good Old Days Magazine, Newsday, the Wormwood Press, Clarity, Lucidity, italymag.uk.co, licanvas.li, the Ultimate Teacher, Writing After Retirement, Whispering Angel Books and many others. Rosemary does book presentations in costume with artifacts in schools, libraries, historical societies, the LI Aquarium, the Shinnecock Museum and the Children’s Museum on the East End.
