This summer BAL will be offering an immersive and collaborative two-week summer theater camp for youth ages 6 to 12 at The Shelter Island History Center. We will tell stories and develop characters, sing, dance, and build an original show to share with families and friends.

Week One: Participants will explore a theme and will collaboratively create a a theater production together guided by experienced teaching artists who are both educators and theater professionals. No prior experience is necessary to participate in this supportive and nurturing ensemble experience.

Week Two: The second week will be spent rehearsing the piece for the Friday afternoon performance open to family and friends.

Brooklyn Acting Lab is an ensemble-based program. We believe that one of the most exciting aspects of theater-making is working together to create a performance piece which is inclusive and celebrates each and every ensemble-member. At our summer theater programs everyone has a part to PLAY whether you are a veteran to the stage or new to the scene. The camp is designed to showcase new work crafted for and by children, and cultivate their individuality as artists and developing social beings.

Brooklyn Acting Lab’s mission is to create innovative theatrical works that reflect our diverse global community and to nurture talent by providing comprehensive arts training for children and adults. BAL partners with schools and community-based organizations to provide arts-in-education programming, performances, and events, collaborating across the performing arts in order to exchange work and ideas with artists nationally and internationally.
