Scope of the Collections: The Museum will collect objects germane to the past and present history of Shelter Island as well as objects in which a relationship to Shelter Island has been established. The purpose of the collections is to support the mission of the Museum to collect, preserve, research and share Shelter Island’s history through educational programs and exhibits. The Museum's permanent collection consists of historical artifacts, archives, pictorial archives, sound archives, and a research library. |
