MEET OUR HAVENS FARMERS' MARKET MANAGERS - ERIK AND KIM CURKO

Erik Curko was born and raised on Shelter Island and is a first generation American. Erik was raised with the beliefs that we should be supporting local farmers and craftsman that offer people food and products that have been made with hard work and love. Erik and Kim are raising their children with these same beliefs. Erik loves Shelter Island because of the people, warm sense of community and the history here. He knows that Shelter Island is such a special and unique place and wants to help bring the community together to celebrate all of the people, food and crafts that make it what it is. Erik has been a Captain on South Ferry for over twelve years and loves being out on the water. When he’s not working he’s spending time with Kim and their two boys, traveling to new destinations, fishing, working in their garden and taking care of their animals.

Kim is no stranger to the Havens Farmers' Market. She ran her own booth for 3 years selling her hand poured candles made on Shelter Island. She is excited and eager to take on the role of co-manager with her husband, along with their two boys in tow. Kim feels very connected to Shelter Island, due to her family's Island roots dating back to the late 1800s. She enjoys being at the Farmers’ Market and often visits other markets while on vacation. Kim loves the energy and community togetherness it brings. She is most looking forward to seeing all the smiling faces every Saturday morning, being part of such a special community event and shopping from our local farmers, food and craft vendors.
