 7.  Staircase 
This staircase is not original. In the first house, three steps went up to the left, and then narrow stairs led up to the two rooms above. A chimney and cooking hearth stood where the current staircase starts. Buildings of this period usually had two doors, north and south,  for a cross breeze, so rooms didn’t overheat while cooking.
